2015 The Second Nanjing International Art Festival Open CallRatified by the Chinese government authorities, the Second Nanjing International Art Festival will be open from September 16th to 26th 2015. The relevant information is as follows:

Objective
The Nanjing International Art Festival organized by Nanjing Baijia Lake International Culture Investment Group dedicates to inject new vitality and vigor to the Chinese art community, help Chinese culture and art open wider to and blend in with the outside world, and comprehensively expand the influences in the world art history as well as promote the growth of Chinese arts, cultivate well-known artists with global recognition. Ultimately, to expand the influence and boost the status of artworks created by Chinese artists in the international art arena.
The 1st Nanjing International Art Festival was positively responded by approximately 5000 artists from more than 20 countries and regions and visited by more than 200,000 spectators. Based on the experiences of the first Nanjing International Art Festival, the 2nd festival shall follow industry guidelines, focus on the promotion of art at an academic level, and simultaneously organize professional, international high-end art exhibitions for artists that support their long-term growth. Through this, Nanjing International Art Festival will contribute to the prosperous development of Chinese culture and arts industry.

The collection of these artworks aims to pursue freedom and equality in the spirit of the arts, and thus to provide a fair arena for both Chinese and international artists to display their talents. This exhibition is about the portrayal of emotions that artists feel towards current society, their contemplation on and utilization of culture, their versatile methods of expression, and also to encourage experimentation and creativity.

Collection Pattern:
1) Worldwide Open Call
Establishing this fair platform with active participation is intended to discover potentially talented artists and to avoid excessive overlap within the art community. The worldwide released notice aims to encourage submissions from excellent artists from all over the world.
2) Recommendation from Art Institutes and Art SchoolsThis part will apply expert evaluation system, which mainly accepts recommendations from professional art institutes and well-known Chinese art schools with guaranteed qualities. We intend to maximize the strength of art institutes and schools to discover talented artists at speed and to provide a fair arena for fine art students and young artists to display their talents. The artists recommend are to be selected and examined by the jury fair and square.

Requirements for Participating Artists and Works
1) Artists must be aged 20 or above.
2) The participating works shall be the original works of the participating artists, and the use of such works shall not violate any patent, copyright, trademark and other intellectual property right. Considering all the artworks (shortlisted) will be delivered to the organizing committee and returned after the exhibition, and the possibility of winning prizes and being collected, all artists should own their intellectual property rights to avoid possible conflicts; otherwise, the organizing committee is authorized to cancel any certification or prize.
3) Subject matter is unlimited, creativity freedom is encouraged. Any work related to sensitive political topics or violence will be carefully verified and is likely to be rejected.
4) Under the selection policy, 400 pieces will be picked to present on-site. Two major types will be accepted: paintings (including traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, prints, water color, mixed media paintings etc.) and others (sculpture, installation, video, photograph etc.) The organizing committee will award certificates for the top 10% of shortlisted artworks, which could have priority inclusion into an e-commerce platform and be presented worldwide. By using the resources from multiple exhibitions, international art museums, galleries and exhibition halls, and promotion schemes, the organizing committee will enhance the artists’ popularity and influence all over the world.
Paintings: within 250cm×250cm.
Others: sculptures and installations should be kept within reasonable sizes, strong materials and simple operational techniques - please contact the organizing committee about special sizes; videos using regular projectors preferred; photographs within 250cm×250cm.

Enrollment Procedure and Selection Principles
Enrollment Deadline: June 30, 2015
Enrollment method:
1) Choose “Online Collection” on the official website of the art festival (www.njiaf.com/html/en/), fill in personal information and artwork details. Candidate personal photos and artwork photos require a minimum of 300 dpi in JPEG / around 5MB.
2) Send personal information and artwork details to the collection E-mail: tg@njiaf.comNotice:
1) All information should be submitted at one time, please do not submit multiple applications.
2) All submitted materials will not be returned, please keep original copies.
3) The first evaluation is based on digital files of the original artworks. All artworks delivered to the committee shall not be returned.
First evaluation: July 1-10 2015

Delivery and Return of Original Works
All artworks that pass the first evaluation need to be delivered to the committee. Please kindly download “2015 Nanjing International Art Festival Participation Agreement” at www.njiaf.com and send a signed hardcopy with the original artworks to the committee. Every artwork shall be tagged with artist name, artwork name, and contact information for recognition.
Delivery time limit: July 11-30 (reception deadline) 2015
Designated address: No. 7 Building first floor, Nanjing Phoenix Mountain Art Park, South Jiangjun Road No. 646, Jiangning District, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China 211151.
Costs and expenses: Artists shall be responsible for the transportation and insurance of the participating artworks while the organizing committee will pay for the expenses of returning the works. All crates need to be prepared by artists, and the committee is only responsible for the transportation excluding the crates.
Frame requirements: All artworks shall be framed before delivery and no framing fee reimbursements shall be borne by the committee.
Packaging requirements: all artworks should come with strong, transportation-friendly crates; no crate fee reimbursements. The committee will return the artworks with the original crates.
Damages: in the case that the artworks are damaged before arrival, the committee will inform the artist immediately without taking on responsibility. If artists still intend on participating, he/she shall be responsible for all repair and related expenses. When returning artworks, the committee will ensure the safety of the package. In the case of any damages during transportation, the responsibility shall belong to the transportation company.
Returning Arrangements: Within three months after the move-out of the exhibition.

Costs for Publicity, Publication and Exhibition
1) All selected works will be issued a Participating Certificate by the Organizing Committee, and included into the Participating Works Album of the Nanjing International Art Festival published by the Organizing Committee. Each presented artist will get a copy as souvenir. More copies need to be purchased at the fixed price.
2) Under the arrangement of Organizing Committee, gold and silver medalists will be featured on cooperative media and periodicals. The selected artworks will be utilized to develop art products.
3) All participating expenses related to opening and closing ceremonies as well as other events and accommodations of the invited award-winning artists will be covered by the Organizing Committee except the transportation fees, which should be borne by the individual.
4) Artworks of award-winning artists and contracted artists will be exhibited in China and abroad. The organizing committee shall be responsible for all the expenses including exhibition fees, insurance, transportation, publicity, publishing, receptions and seminars.

Statement of Rights and Responsibilities
1) The organizing committee reserves the following rights: free access to the online enrollment information filled out by artists while keeping phone numbers, addresses and family information confidential.
2) The sponsors reserve the right of exhibition, research, photographing, video-recording, copying, publishing and promotion of these works.
3) Application for this session of the Nanjing International Art Festival shall be deemed to be consent to all contents in this notice and the registration forms. The Organizing Committee of the Nanjing International Art Festival reserves the right of the final interpretation of all the above terms, and final discretion on all the award-winning works.

Award System
The Second Nanjing International Art Festival will award the Golden Kylin Award, which shall be selected from the shortlisted artworks, with both certificates and prize money for winners.
Gold Award: 1%-5%, 50,000 USD prize money plus certificate;
Silver Award: 5%-10%, 20,000 USD prize money plus certificate;
Bronze Award: 10%-20%, 10,000 USD prize money plus certificate;
Excellence Award:unlimited, 1,000 USD prize money plus certificate;
Shortlist Award: issued with certificates.
1) The Organizing Committee will distribute the prize money to the award-winning artists and retain their works in the archives. These artists will enjoy priority contracts with the organizer and the opportunity to join the Artist Development Plan. The results will be announced on domestic and international media outlets.
2) The artists whose artworks fail to be selected may either choose to sign a contract to join the Artist Development Plan or have their works returned.
