红门画廊于4月4日成功举办了《了无痕迹——解国平首次个人作品展》的开幕式。在开幕式上，解国平的五幅大尺寸作品被藏家收藏，这种喜势是一次甚至在经济危机到来之前都难以超越的成功。上百名宾客在古色古香的东便门角楼中鉴赏艺术家的作品，这一场景充分吸引了艺术评论家和媒体的注意力。

艺术总监裴大利表示，解国平个人作品展是红门画廊为了适应大环境而为2009年制定的展出计划中的第一场展览。“本次展览展出了一位新晋艺术家的作品，在5月2日开展的新展览中我们将展出我们签约艺术家的小幅作品。在5月底，我们将展出来自重庆和四川的年轻艺术家的全新作品。这些展览是我们与新老藏家和进行更好更深沟通的契机。如果给解国平个展的成功开幕赋予意义，我们希望这次展览的成功能够帮助红门画廊在2009年取得更大的成功。”

RED GATE REPORTS INCREASED SALES LEADING INTO ART HK

BEIJING April 5, 2009 – Red Gate Gallery opened Xie Guoping’s first solo exhibition, No Trace yesterday to resounding success. Five of the large-scale canvases sold during the opening reception—a pace seldom rivalled even before economic concerns set in last year. Over a hundred guests streamed through the historic Watchtower space to examine the artist’s work, which had already gleaned significant attention from art critics and the media.

Director Brian Wallace was encouraged by the success of the opening: “I had great confidence in Xie Guoping’s work from the beginning. Three paintings had already sold in advance. His fresh vision captivates viewers, and because this is his first show, his prices make the works accessible to a wider audience.” Wallace adds, “Although we anticipated a lot of interest in the show, we really were surprised by the buying frenzy at the opening reception.” Wallace sees the success of the Xie Guoping opening as an encouraging lead-in to Art HK, the annual art fair that will take place in Hong Kong May 14 – 17. “In the past, Hong Kong has been tremendously successful for Red Gate. Of course this year, we have not been certain about the market. Xie Guoping’s blockbuster opening here in Beijing puts us in a much more optimistic mindset.”

Director Tally Beck explains that Xie Guoping’s exhibition is the first of several new Red Gate projects that are designed to cope with the changing environment: “This show featured the work of a new artist, our next show opening May 2 will feature smaller works by our established artists, and towards the end of the month, we will feature new works by young artists from Chongqing and Sichuan. These shows are part of a larger strategy to reach out to clients and encourage first-time collectors. If Xie Guoping’s opening reception is any indication, we look forward to more successes.”
