新中国的第一代雕塑家,在改革开放经济腾飞的二十多年里,因全身心地投入城市建设,他们几乎个个成为大富豪!在雕塑艺术史上能留给后人的几乎没有什么,留下来的只是那个疯狂时代的庞然物证。 隋建国,蔡志松、展望、焦兴涛、李占洋、向京、梁硕、陈文令、耿博……越来越多投身于当代艺术的雕塑家出现,使中国雕塑界振奋人心! 60年代末到70年代初的雕塑家更极具新锐,个性突出,不断走向成熟、自我。李占洋的城乡娱乐直指人心,又使人们倍感亲切,而向京,以夸张的表情和肢体动作,传达出自身女性内心复杂而敏锐的形象;陈文令那南方“爆发户”、“走私贩子”的形象,对财富极其简单的追求,既幸福又危险;耿博,一个憨厚的汉子,却选择人类最重要的活动——性爱为题材。 耿博的作品并不色情,更不象前一段时间在北京798因“有伤风化”而被禁展的曲解所说那样;今天减肥广告无处不在,其实耿博对现在流行的审美标准产生了质疑!耿博在对冰火交融,柔弱才能化刚强,追求和谐、自然之美的过程中,重新肯定汉唐以肥美,古希腊以强壮,生命力强为美的标准。其作品中的女人五官虚化减弱,只对柔弱加以强调;男人借用古代武将,金刚的手法,使男人表现得更彪捍、凶猛、可怕, 但在女人面前却又“不堪一击”!造形却使用城市雕塑的雄伟的气势,图式不难看出有借鉴日本浮世绘武士与歌妓凄美…… 2007·春 上海静安 “ice & fire bath” geng bo works review the first generation sculptors of p.r. china have been dedicated to urban construction and consequently have become wealthy since the opening up and reform 20 years ago. they leave their offspring with nothing but humongous constructions from that crazy period. sui jianguo, cai zhisong, zhan wang, jiao xingtao, li zhanyang, xiang jing, liang shuo, chen wenling and geng bo – more and more sculptors have emerged, dedicating themselves to modern art. the chinese sculpture field is full of excitement. sculptors born in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s are sharper with unique personalities, and during the process of discovering themselves, they become mature. li zhanyang’s suburban and urban entertainment content captured people’s hearts and connected them with a sense of familiarity. xiang jing demonstrated the complicated inner world of females via exaggerating expressions and gestures. chen wenling created an image of the southern “nouveau riche” and “smugglers” who have a simple pursuit of wealth. they are happy but dangerous. geng bo, a straightforward man, selected the most important human activity as his theme - sex. geng bo’s works were neither erotic nor “demoralizing”, as the commentary claimed when his exhibition at beijing 798 was recently shut down. advertisements for losing weight are everywhere nowadays. geng bo has doubt about the current aesthetic standards. he reconfirmed the aesthetic standards of being plump in the han and tang dynasties and being strong and robust in ancient greece, by presenting delicate factors overcoming muscularity and the pursuit of harmony and natural beauty. in his works, woman’s faces are blurry, but their feminine features are emphasized; men look like ancient warriors or devarajas, appearing strong, coarse and intimidating. despite this, men seem to be “venerable” in front of women. di’s works present the magnificence of urban sculpture and you can almost see some influence of ukiyoe featured in his japanese warriors and geishas. igongwu li 2007 spring jing an shanghai
